HB 14 progress and postcards

Hi everyone! I just wanted to take a minute to update you on the postcards (HB 14 Update) I made, and HB 14.
1. The postcards have all been distributed! I gave them to my dentist's office, friends, coworkers, family, and on and on. Many people took several because they knew other people who would want one. I even had someone in a coffee shop ask for some when they overheard me explaining them. It was so exciting to see peoples' enthusiasm about them and their desire to know more about HB 14. The people I passed them out to have let me know that they have been sending them in and passing them along. One person wrote on their postcard "no discrimination, whether human or animal" on the card. That's a good way to sum up what this bill helps represent. WOOHOO!
2. HB 14 was passed in the senate, however they proposed a few changes. What has to happen now is that the house will review the changes and then it should be passed on to the governor. I wish I could see the amount of postcards that have made it to the governor's office already. It makes me smile to know they are floating through the USPS and landing in the office of a person who can make or break this bill.
My sister sent me this link (Thank you!) which helps explain what's currently going on with it. http://m.nbc4i.com/wcmh/db_16304/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=xJ5gsNhT
Keep sending pawsitive prayers and thoughts or whatever it is that you do , to support Ohio's pooches and HB 14. Are paws are in prayer here!

A dedication

This post is dedicated to our friends at kissa-bull.

I had this cup of tea and when I read the tag it reminded me of them. That's because Sandra has such a huge heart for helping animals and she shows that this quote is true. She has given animals the wonderful gift of love that would never otherwise know what love from a human is, and she has helped animals that many would see and think it to be impossible to do anything. That is a miracle for any dog who has been overlooked, abused, neglected..

Us and the pooches here just wanted to take the time to dedicate this post to you Sandra, your family, and your fur babies and of course the fearless five, so you know how important and miraculous you have been and continue to be for animals, both during your difficult time and always!

I'm Baacccckkk!

Hello there! I feel like I haven't posted a blog for a year. :) What have I been doing, you ask?

I got cut back to 15 hours a week again at my job.

I got an old position back somewhere else tutoring college Spanish

Went to a wedding

Visited my nephew (7 weeks old!)

Went with Chad to take Spuds to the vet for allergies...again

Cuddled with Spudsy :)

Helped my mom move...and visited with her kitties (This is her camera-lover Cali)

Worked on my first novel I'm *trying* to write
Tried to read a book which was sabotaged by Shadow, as usual.

Realized the leaves are turning red..I'll try to take some 'Fall in Ohio' pics.

Watched Ohio State Football

Getting ready for Grad classes to start this week...

Spent money I shouldn't have....

Thought about my bad eating habits.

So...in other words just a bunch of different stuff going on and somehow blogging got left out. A small hiatus perhaps. I've decided if I can go 3 weeks without buying any fast food or other impulse buys, I'm going to reward myself with a hoodie from http://www.badrap.org/

Like this one maybe:

And this week is supposed to be rainy. Looks like the dogs will be doing a lot of this:

I hope your week goes well!

I am award-winning!

...kind of. Stella and Roo at http://bybrittanyann.blogspot.com/ gave me this award!

So now I'd like to pass it on to a few of my faves!

The rules are:1) Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link.2) Pass the award to up to 15 other blogs that you've newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

I pass it along to:

1. Vick Dog Blog- because they allow people to see the wonderful lives Pit Bulls can have- no matter their past!
2. The Dogfathers- because I love the "mafia" and they are a funny group to put together! (Bruno is my favorite, hehehe)
3. The Happy Pit Bull blog- because this lady is awesome and started stopbsl.com, woohoo!
4. KC Dog Blog- There is always logical and need-to-know information on the blog!

So...I keep forgetting to bring my camera places. Darnit! This means when Spuds and Kado went swimming I had to use my cell phone to take pictures. Sorry! Spuds is 5 now so he's been swimming for a while. Kado on the other hand, the 1 year old, wasn't so sure what to do.

Whoa! How does he do that!?

Maybe I'll just walk the edges for a while...

Nicceeee and safee...

Da du na nu! Stick!

Not Fair!! I'm jumpin' for it!

...Getting his barings?

Give me stick!

GIVEITTOME!!

S: Let.go.
K: YOU let go!
S:I'm not lettin' go!
K: Well I'm not letting go either!

Needless to say, Spuds got it away from him and hid it here...

Don't Believe the Bull- Pit Bulls Rock!

Commonly referred to as a “pit bull” dog:
American Pit Bull Terrier: 85.3% passed
American Staffordshire Terrier: 83.9% passed
Staffordshire Bull Terrier: 88.0% passed
Average: 85.7%

Other breeds in chart:
Golden Retriever: 84.6%
Labrador Retriever: 92%
German Shepherd: 83.7%
Mixed Breed: 85.4%
Border Collie: 80.6%

Scores as of December 2008. As you can see, “pit bull” dogs do great in temperament tests!

The point of this is not to say that pit bulls are “better” than other breeds, but rather to illustrate how inaccurate of an image has been portrayed of pit bulls.

Go to http://www.atts.org/index.html to see more breeds’ scores, to see how many of each breed were tested, etc.

A Busy Week

This week was busy busy busy. Lots to do, not enough time.
On top of that, I felt a wave of discouragement. There are so many stories of Pit Bulls being abused , neglected, misjudged, misidentified, and the list goes on. Not to mention the fact that Ohio is trying to ban all Pit Bulls. It seems that for every person trying to fight for their rights, there are ten people trying to tear them down.
So I'm asking, go to www.bestfriends.org and read what they have to say on the matter. They have updates on what is going on with the bill in Ohio, among other great stuff about Pit Bulls. Education on this topic is the only way to fight bad information, bad media, and bad laws.
To help with the frustration, I played with GIMP:

Before

After

No GIMP involved, just thought it was cute
Is there something different about me?

Smells like Spring

Two pics in one

Just colored in the background

I'm not sure which one I like the best, but it was fun! And Spuds is too cute :)

Every Dog Needs a Blanket

Spuds, Shadow and Kado got blankets! I decided to do something nice for them, so i went out and got some material to make them each a knot blanket.
What is a knot blanket you ask? Well, you pretty much buy some fleece or other material, cut slits all around each side of the material, and tie the slits together! (It will make more sense when you see one..unless of course...you already have seen one)
What? We get blankets? Hey guys, we get blankets!
Where are they?
Are they in the recycling box?

Are they out there?

I think they're this way...

eeeeeee, I'm confused

*Head explodes*

Relax guys, I'll show you where they are.

You will??!!

Da da-nu-na!

Oh hai, my nickname is Curious George. I once scared all the humans because there was a huge "acme knot" (think cartoons) on the top of my head and they thought I had cancer or something, bahahaaa. Turns out I just hit my head one too many times from standing up under tables.

Cheatin' for treats

Where are those treats? I thought they were up here somewhere...

GIVE ME THE TREATS!!

Mmm, that was so worth the jump.

I love my blanket!

If she can cheat for treats SO-CAN-I!

OoOoOhHh, I found ooonneeeee

K: Yeaaa, blankets!

S: He is soo weird...

Spuds: OhMyDog I love my blankettt
Shadow: Seriously, what is wrong with these boys?

Can I have Spuds' blanket?

How about Kado's? They don't really need one...

PPLLEEEEZZ?

Hey lady, remember: Nobody takes nuthin' round here but me.

Vick's Dogs!

*Sniff-sniff, sniffff sniff sniff sniff*

Yes? Ok, Good. I have something special to tell you so I get to write the whole blog today! I'm shadow and I want to tell you about something greaatt!!! There is a blog that's all about Michael Vick's dogs- you know, the ones that some people thought could never be in homes and all that? Well they ARE in homes! And they are so cool...

*Sigh* I wish I could be friends with the Vick Dogs. I'm their biggest fan...

But I love humans too, see? This is me with one of my faves. I guess they'll do for now!

I almost forgot- the website to see the blog is:

It talks all about their lives now and how happy they are! I can't believe some people actually wanted to kill them just because some mean guy owned them for a while and made them do bad stuff. The dogs' humans let them write the blog, but they said their humans talk about human stuff at http://www.badrap.org/ It's a really cool place to go if, ya know, you like that human kinda thing. You can learn a lot about Pit Bulls like meee!

(P.S.-I think I have a crush on Uba. He's the cutest ex-Vick dog ever!)

Shadow- get off my computer! Little rascal... She is right about how great these websites are. Kudos to Bad Rap for a job well done.
